Committed to Students First
“I believe that by focusing on character, content, and commitment, we will be successful.”
– Diana Rigby
Character:
Teaching children to be responsible, accountable, respectful, resilient, kind and to take pride in who they are.
Content:
Ensuring our curriculum meets and exceeds the needs of our broad set of learners to help develop critical thinkers.
Commitment:
Putting our students above all else and acting as a reliable liaison between our parents and the school board.
Support for Students
We don’t get a do-over in developmental years, so it’s important to get it right the first time. Diana will consider our student’s needs first and ensure that we are doing everything we can to help them grow academically, physically and emotionally.
Respect for Parents
Diana believes the school board and parents should work together toward the common goal of what is best for students. Transparency and honesty are key components, and parents must have a voice in decisions that affect their child’s health and wellbeing. Many times, a board member is that voice.
Accountability to the Taxpayer
Character is not just for students. One way Diana will put character into action is by being accountable to the taxpayer. She would represent parents not only in voice, but also in her commitment to fiscal responsibility. Money should be dedicated to what matters most - our students and their success as students and individuals.
Character Above All Else
As a parent, Diana believes an emphasis on student character is essential toward empowered students and a positive school environment. Developing students who are responsible, accountable, respectful, and kind requires practice and repetition. Character education should be thread into every aspect of student life.
Academic Excellence
At the heart of the “Dublin Difference” is academic excellence. Now more than ever, our schools must commit to teaching the fundamentals - math, reading, science, writing. In order to develop critical thinkers, curriculum content must be fact-based, contextual and without bias.
Meet Diana
Diana Rigby and her husband Jim have been a part of the Dublin community for 14 years. She is a proud mother of three boys, Will, Dean and Mitchell, and two English labs, Russell and Hogie. All three of her children came up through Dublin City Schools, and Mitchell is currently a freshman.
Diana grew up outside of Pittsburgh and graduated from Villanova University. Upon graduation, she began her career in sales and worked for Pfizer for much of her career. Currently, she is employed with Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center, where she does physician outreach marketing.
Throughout the years, Diana has volunteered in various ways within the schools, leading events such as Leed’s Farm and Time with Teacher Raffles. She has been a parent on the Key Communicators Committee for the past 3 years at Grizzell. When her son Will was a freshman at Jerome, she started the Jerome Football Tailgate Club with a small group of dedicated moms. They put this event together to celebrate the kids and the community on Football Friday Nights, and it met great success.
Diana is an active member of St Brigid Parish in Dublin where she volunteers her time teaching students.
She also enjoys sports, especially when her sons are involved, walking her dogs, reading, fitness, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
She is running for Dublin School Board first as a parent with “skin in the game.” Like all parents, she sees the everyday effects board decisions have on our kids, and she wants to ensure they are able to succeed. She is committed to our student first - as people - and will do what is best for them in all areas of their lives … Academically, physically, and emotionally.
Dublin is Diana’s home, and she is committed to making it the best it can be.
